They arrive early and stay late. Sacristans care for the sacred vessels, cloths, books, altar breads, wine, cancles, incense, baptismal items, vestments and furnishings. They stay with the liturgial norms, anticipate needs and make sure everything is placed where it should be placed in advance of each liturgical event. They also ensure everthing is clean and stored until the next time the items are needed.
