Stations of the Cross
with Deacon John

Stations of the Cross are at 7:00 pm on Friday’s during Lent. We will be using two different booklets for the service this year: (1) The Way of the Cross which is the “traditional” Stations of the Cross; and (2) The Stations of the Cross with Pope John Paul II based on his Good Friday Service in 1991.
The two different booklets give us different stations and call to mind different events as Jesus journeyed through the streets of Jerusalem on his way to his Crucifixion. Below are the dates and the booklets we will be using:

The Stations of the Cross with Pope John Paul II
The following stations of the cross are based on those celebrated by Pope John Paul II on Good Friday 1991. They are presented here as an alternative to the traditional stations1 and as a way of reflecting more deeply on the Scriptural accounts of Christ's passion.
First Stattion: Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane

Fifth Station – Simon of Cyrene helps Jesus to carry his Cross
Sixth Station – Veronica wipes the face of Jesus
Seventh Station – Jesus falls the second time
Eighth Station – Jesus meets the women of Jerusalem

Tenth Station – Jesus is stripped of his clothes
