Camp Elliott

Members of the Parish Guild, under the leadership of LaVerne Franke, volunteer at the Camp Elliott Warehouse (Located at Marine Corps Air Station at Miramar East the third Tuesday of the month.

We meet at the church parking lot at 8:30 am and carpool to Camp Elliott. We volunteer (packing diapers, sorting clothes, making food and welcome packages and whatever else needs to be done) until noon. Often we have lunch before returning to church. This is a great way to help our military families.

If you would like to help, please contact  LaVerne Franke 858-481-9794.

SDMOM is an incorporated charity supported by churches, civic organizations, businesses, military members and private donors working with other nonprofit organizations. With a small paid staff of military wives and many volunteers, SDMOM provides helping services to thousands of enlisted families each year. All services are provided free of charge. Services include nearly daily distribution of food, furniture and household goods, children’s supplies and hosting holiday events, baby showers and family events.

SDMOM serves the junior enlisted military family (mostly ranks E-5 and below), typically headed by a 19-23 year old, with young children, away from home, and trying to survive in our expensive economy on a low salary while struggling with high debt and the family stresses of deployment.

San Diego County is one of the largest military regions in the United States with more than 14 military installations in the County. Today there are nearly three quarters of a million children under the age of five years in military families, the most since World War II.

“When a family member deploys, the whole family ‘deploys’ requiring equal parts of courage and sacrifice.”

Three afternoons a week, SDMOM gives free furniture, household goods, dish packs, children's clothing and supplies, baby food and diapers. All supplies are received from donors or purchased with donated funds to about 500 families a month. They especially need children's strollers, play pens, cribs, and other equipment as well as good condition furniture and household items
