Welcome from Father Nicholas Dempsey, Pastor
For the past 31 years, St. Thérèse of Carmel (formerly St. William of York) has been serving the people of Carmel Valley while watching the area grow and change from a few new housing developments to a sprawling, thriving community! I am blessed to have been your pastor and to have witnessed the growth of our parish from 300 to now over 3,000 families!
Although there has been continual change surrounding St. Thérèse of Carmel over those 31 years, one thing has not changed — the commitment to be a parish community of believers and a spiritual family that is supportive and loving. It can be a place to grow spiritually, to put your faith in action, and to use our gifts of time and talent as Disciples of Christ to serve those less fortunate.
Since the days of the first Masses in the rectory, office spaces, and gymnasiums, St. Thérèse of Carmel parishioners have gathered together for prayer, worship, service to the poor and fellowship. As a parish community, some of our proudest moments come through the children served through our religious education programs and our school creating the next generation of Catholics to serve her locally and to share the message of Christ throughout the world. It is my hope that all who come here to worship will be inspired to share their faith, hope and love with those they meet.
Whether you’re just visiting us for a brief time, looking for a new parish home, are returning to the practice of your Catholic faith or are interested in finding out more about the Catholic Church, we’re happy to have you here.
Sincerely in Christ,
Reverend Nicholas Dempsey, Pastor
