The Sacrament of Baptism is a sacrament of Initiation, the first step for Catholics in a lifelong journey of commitment and discipleship. Baptism is the Church’s way of celebrating and enacting the embrace of God. As part of the Bishop’s plan to re-open the Churches and maintain a healthy environment, the baptismal fonts have been closed. Therefore we are now scheduling “Domestic Church” baptism (aka private baptisms) in St Anne’s Chapel. We are scheduling the “Domestic Church” baptisms at 10am, noon or 2pm on Saturdays, but during the pandemic we can accommodate a different day if that works for you family. We are limited to 20 people in person, wearing masks/social distancing, however the Chapel now has Zoom capability so we can share the liturgy with family and friends (including godparents) that cannot attend in person.
Parents are required to register as parishioners and become active and participating members of our community at least three months BEFORE requesting baptism. If this is the first child, both parents are required to attend the Baptismal Class, as well as parents who have not attended a baptism class in the last two years. Baptismal classes are held on the first Sunday of each month at 7:00 pm via Zoom. Reach out to Deacon John to register for the class (firstname.lastname@example.org). Godparents are strongly encouraged to attend a class either at St. Thèrése or at their own parish.
Required before Baptism:
1. The Baptismal Registration
2. A copy of the child’s Birth Certificate
3. A Parish Registration form if not already registered.
4. Sacramental fee of $50
5. Stipend – a suggested stipend to Clergy of $100
(to be given directly to Clergy).
A Baptismal Candle and white stole will be provided by the Parish.
Plan carefully with adequate time for all the steps.
“I have held thee in the palm of my hand.”
