Catholics need to realize that the goal of a faith formation process is to conform us increasingly to the likeness of God. Our faith teaches us that what we pray is what we believe.
Therefore, the primary “classroom” for Christian formation is the Mass. Attendance at Mass is our number one priority as Catholics and our number one priority as parents is to bring our children to Mass with us. The Eucharist is our most necessary nourishment.
The primary guides in any Christian formation are the prayers and hymns of our tradition, especially those that are written in Sacred Scripture and proclaimed in the Liturgy of the Word. We never the less benefit from a less formal environment for the reading, studying, inquiring, and discussing of our Catholic spirituality and teachings. Religious Education at our Parish is for all ages and seeks to provide for these needs.
